PENNOYER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
At Pennoyer School District #79, the Superintendent and the Principal handle all administrative functions. The superintendent handles 'district' level issues and items, and the principal handles 'school' level issues and items. Both are happy to work with members of the community at any time. Superintendent - Dr. Kristin Kopta
Dr. Kopta brings seventeen years of experience in education, with the past nine as a school administrator, to our community. Dr. Kopta earned her Doctoral degree from National Louis University in School Leadership and Administration. She also holds a Master of Education degree in School Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Human Resource and Development from University of Illinois at Champaign. She completed her Bachelors of Education Degree at Illinois State University.
Dr. Kopta grew up in Lemont and currently lives in Arlington Heights with her husband and two children. Aside from her time spent with her family and career, Dr. Kopta serves her country in the Air National Guard in Peoria, Illinois. She is an advocate for public education and serves on the West 40 Regional Office of Education Board of Directors.
Principal - Mrs. Gina Sierra
Mrs. Sierra was the Assistant Principal at North School in DuPage School District 45 where she has served the district in that capacity for the past three years. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Sierra spent nineteen years in the classroom teaching first, second and sixth grades, as well as a reading specialist. Mrs. Sierra is also proud to be a member of the Komarek School District 94 Board of Education which serves students in a K-8, one school district in North Riverside. Mrs. Sierra's passion and commitment to teaching and learning was evident throughout the interview process. She embraces a student first philosophy and a passion to work with teachers, parents and the community.
