From kindergarten through eighth grade, we use the same publisher, McGraw-Hill, to provide a style, level, and continuity of instruction. Our textbooks, or anthologies, provide a wide variety of selections to explore all of the different genres, or types of literature. The depth of the instruction and the expectations increase at each grade level. Developing a life long love of reading is always our goal.
The students in 6th and 7th grade are grouped with their classmates, providing a range of interest and ability levels, which motivates all of the students. The text is supplemented with a novel at each level. In 8th grade, the text is supplemented with two novels. We are able to offer a literature class for the highly motivated and capable 8th grade students. The students in this class, taught by Mrs. J. Olivia, use no textbook and read about six novels.
