Welcome to Ms. Leveille's Title I Reading Classroom

Pennoyer School's Title I Reading Program services students in first through eighth grade. After a student is referred for Title I Services, Mrs. Leveille administers an Informal Reading Inventory(IRI).

This inventory identifies a student's oral and silent reading levels and provides Mrs. Leveille with information regarding a student's word recognition, comprehension and fluency skills. This information is then analyzed and the student's levels are compared to the level at which the student should be reading. If a discrepancy is evident, a letter of invitation to Title I Reading classes will be sent home with the student.

A balanced reading program allows Title I Reading students to focus on comprehension, word recognition, vocabulary and the reading and writing connection, while reading authentic literature both orally and silently within a small group setting.
