Instructional Classrooms Return From Adaptive Pause

Dear Families,

Happy Friday! We are so excited that Monday marks the return to in person instruction for our Instructional Special Education students! We would like to reiterate our procedures to ensure a smooth start to the school week next week:

Daily Student Certification of Health
All families must complete the Student Self Certification form prior to arrival to school each day. This form can be found by visiting bit.ly/selfcert79. Our staff will be checking the form every day  to ensure students are symptom free and can be present for learning. The Student Self Certification form is quick and easy!   Bookmark the link to help you complete the form  each day your child is in attendance for in person learning, prior to arriving at school.

Arrival & Pick Up Procedures
Upon arrival at school, families will be expected enter from the east entrance to the front lot and drive through the circle drive to their assigned door school to drop their child off at the assigned entrance per the times and doors outlined below:

Ms. Theander |  Students will be dropped off promptly at 8 AM, entering through the District Doors.  Pick up will be at 11:05 with students exiting through the District Doors.

Ms. Pisello |  Students will be dropped off promptly at 7:55 AM, entering through the District Doors.  Pick up will be at 11 AM with students exiting through the District Doors.

Lunch
We will not be having lunch since our students will be dismissed at 11 am. We are also asking that students bring a water bottle as the water fountains will be off limits per the guidance provided by the IDPH and ISBE.

Visitors to the School
We will not be accepting visitors to the building without an appointment. Please, make sure to call the office at (708) 456-9094 and we will direct you to the person that you need to set up an appointment with.

Thank you for your cooperation, flexibility and partnership as we work hand in hand to bring our children back to school safely!

Special Education | December 2020 Return to In Person Learning

Dear Families,

I hope this letter is finding you and your family in good health and spirits.  On November 19, the District shared that Pennoyer would extend the current adaptive pause through December 18th. This was done in an effort to prioritize the health and safety of students, families, and staff at Pennoyer.  Pennoyer remains committed to the wellbeing of our school community, but we are thoughtfully working to support in-person learning of our students in a safe environment.

On Monday, December 7, Pennoyer’s three instructional special education classrooms will return to in-person learning from the hours of 8 AM to 11 AM on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays with the afternoon hours being dedicated to continued remote instruction.  Wednesdays will remain fully remote.  This structure will allow our special education teachers to provide in person instruction with the assistance of one educational assistant for three hours, four days a week.  Students and staff will follow all health practices that were in place prior to the adaptive pause such as self certification of health, face coverings, and others.  Additional health precautions will also be in place to aid in the efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Ms. Pucci |  Students will be dropped off promptly at 8 AM, entering through the Main Office School Doors.  Pick up will be at 11 AM with students exiting through the Main Office School Doors.

Each teacher will be connecting with each of their families regarding their child’s unique schedule.  Students have and will continue to receive all related services as outlined on their remote learning plans.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.  The Student Services team is eager to partner with families on a schedule that works to meet the needs of your student, as we understand that comfort levels may vary regarding the return to in-person learning.

The entire Student Services Team is committed to supporting families and ensuring a meaningful path forward as we navigate these challenging times.

In Partnership,

Alicia Schmeisser
Director of Student Services
