Kindergarten

Course Purpose:

Students will explore, create, and describe artwork using the fundamental elements of art: line, shape, & color.

1st Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will create and analyze artwork using basic elements of art: line, shape, color & texture.

2nd Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will use the elements of art to engage individually and collaboratively in the creating, analyzing, and making connections.

3rd Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will create, collaborate, and investigate presentation of artwork using the elements of art and basic principles of design.

FA.3A.2 Students will collaborate with peers to examine artwork, and communicate their feelings when engaging with that artwork.
FA.3A.3 Students will investigate presentation of artwork, including identifying exhibits and writing an artist statement.

4th Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will create, collaborate, and analyze their artwork, their peers’ artwork, and historical artwork using the elements of art and principles of design.

5th Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will create artwork that has personal significance and analyze diverse methods of art making and art interpretation.

6th Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will apply the elements of art and principles of design when creating with a variety of mediums, as well as analyze historical works of art for themes.

7th Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will design and revise artwork with the elements of art and principles of design, as well as analyze the presentation and preservation of artwork.

8th Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will design, revise, and present artwork that displays their personal voice, as well as evaluate collections of artwork created by others.
