Pennoyer offers various math levels to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders based on a variety of components from year to year. When applicable, Pennoyer could offer the following levels of math courses to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students:

Sixth Grade:

  • Sixth Grade Math- covers all sixth grade level standards
  • Sixth Grade Accelerated Math- covers all sixth grade standards and some seventh grade standards

Seventh grade:

  • Seventh Grade Math- covers all seventh grade level standards
  • Seventh Grade Accelerated Math- covers all of seventh grade and some of the eighth grade standards
  • Seventh Grade Integrated Math I (High school level course - algebraic, geometric, and statistical thinking are embedded throughout the course)

Eighth Grade:

  • Eighth Grade Math- covers all eighth grade level standards
  • Eighth Grade Accelerated Math- covers all eighth grade level standards and some of freshman level high school math
  • Eighth Grade Integrated Math I (High school level course - algebraic, geometric, and statistical thinking are embedded throughout the course)
  • Eighth grade Integrated Math II (for students who took Integrated Math I in seventh grade) 

The criteria outlined below is utilized to determine eligibility for math class placement:

  • A combination of Spring MAP data and past historical MAP data
  • Historical math classroom performance
  • Teacher recommendation
