English Language Arts Curriculum

1st Grade

Course Purpose:

Students will apply phonemic awareness skills while reading with meaning. Students will connect reading, writing, speaking, and listening within their grade level content.  Students will devise different forms of writing in a paragraph format.

Students will interpret various texts and writings, including poetry, by comparing and contrasting, asking and answering questions, and interpreting  words and phrases that show feeling.
