Students will apply language skills in order to communicate meaningfully through language and writing while linking these skills to text comprehension.

Use regular plural nouns and possessive pronouns in communication.

Use present, past, and frequently occurring irregular (i.e., went, sat, ate, told) tense verbs.

Combine three or more words in communication while maintaining subject, verb, and object agreement.

Use common adjectives as well as comparative and superlative adjectives to describe people or objects.

Use common conjunctions (i.e. and, but, or, for, because) and prepositions (i.e., to, from, in, out, on, off, by, with).

Apply appropriate capitalization and punctuation when producing sentences.

Use spelling patterns and knowledge of letter-sound relationships to spell taught and untaught words.

Use print in the environment to support reading and spelling common high-frequency words.
