Standard(s)

    M.5.8.1   Find the product with and without a model of (a/b) x q as both a parts of a partition of q into b equal parts and as the result of a x q ÷ b. 5.NF.B.4.a
M.5.8.2   Multiply a fraction by a fraction and simplify the product. 5.NF.B.4.a
M.5.8.3   Demonstrate and explain when multiplying a fraction by an improper fraction the product is greater than the initial fraction and when multiplying a fraction by a fraction less than one, the product is less than the initial fraction.

5.NF.B.5.a

5.NF.B.5.b

    M.5.8.4   Relate and explain why multiplying (a x n)/(b x n) results in an equivalent fraction. 5.NF.B.5.b
M.5.8.5   Find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths by tiling it and compare it to the area found by multiplying it by the side lengths. 5.NF.B.4.b
M.5.8.6   Solve problems with real world contexts involving the multiplication of fractions and mixed numbers. 5.NF.B.6
